Web Design/Development Internship

Thank you for your interest in the New Perspective Interactive Internship. Unfortunately we have determined that our program is not quite ready to begin accepting applicants at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

At New Perspective, we strive to make the internship experience for all departments rewarding and meaningful for both the individual and our community and hope to have the program ready for the fall semester.

New Perspective, the region’s leading audio, video and interactive company is seeking an ambitious and motivated individual for our Interactive Internship Program.

Description and General Qualifications
The ideal individual for our Interactive Internship Program lives and breathes the web.  They are a person who dreams about code while maintaining a finger on the pulse of interactive design trends.  Candidates must also be available to work onsite at New Perspective a minimum of three days a week.

Technical Prerequisites
Ideal candidates should be well versed in HTML/XHTML and CSS.  Pluses include familiarity with JavaScript, and  understanding of the DOM (Document Object Model),  and experience with Flash development using ActionScript 2.0 (We are Flash junkies).

Coding standards are important to us. If you pick them up now you will be all the more valuable to your future development team.  We don’t expect you to know everything, but you do need to be willing to learn.  If you are more of a “back-end” developer and have experience with .NET or SQL Server, that is an awesome plus.

Design Prerequisites
An individual with experience designing for the web is preferred.  Not those pre-templated sites -- we want someone comfortable staring at a blank Photoshop document and working their magic.  User Interface design knowledge and theory are a plus.  Experience with the use of Photoshop is a must.  Code is important, but code without proper presentation is useless.

What Our Interns Do
This internship won’t be one of those “get me a coffee” internships.  You will be responsible for seeking out a non-profit client and working out the details and needs of their web presence.  Once you have a client, you will be responsible for completing the project from design and code to the finished site.  You won’t be alone in all of this.  You will work with our Interactive Team who will surround you with a group of seasoned professionals in design and development.

What We Expect and What You Can Expect
We expect our interns to be dedicated to their project.  Professionalism and attention to detail will get you a long way.  You can expect to be taught tricks of the trade and best practices.  Interns that excel in their project will also open themselves up for expanded opportunities potentially including working with digital video and professional DVD authoring.

Submitting Your Resume
Resumes should ideally include links to samples of your design and programming skills.  Resume submissions should also include the hourly requirements for internships that are imposed by the school you are attending.  If you are selected as a candidate you will be contacted for a face-to-face interview.
